Clearly we’ve touched on this subject before and I’m sure we can all agree this stud has no business making little copies of himself. What I want to know is why you would include the following picture in the advertisement? This seems odd, even for craigslist!

Ok, I’m taking up a pool. Who wants to bet when this horse will break down?

Her front and back feet are at two VERY different angles! And damn those are some posty back legs! Obviously since she’s a yearling she’ll continue to grow and hopefully her shape will change somewhat but there ain’t enough natural growth in the world to overcome her underlying structural flaws. The sad and detestable part is that people purposefully bred for those legs and hooves. Not to mention the fact that there’s a chance (and it seems likely) that she’s got HYPP.

Good job people. Keep up the good work. If we’re really lucky, people will keep breeding horses like this and we’ll never get rid of the slaughter industry. Super. /sarcasm.

What are your thoughts? Will his legs straighten out naturally? I mean, the picture could have been taken at a moment when he was just standing up, which could explain why the knees are bent. But will that tendon on the right hind straighten out? Is this another case of Ugly Duckling-itis? Or is this baby in trouble?

Great and flashy paint mare for sale. Daisy is a 14.3 handed bay paint mare, 10 years old and needs some finishing in the ring. Completely trail broke, well mannered on the ground. clips .bathes .loads, good for farrier in front but uneasy in the back. We have jumped up to 2 feet, very pretty head frame just needs to be finished but loves to work and eager to please. I need a larger horse and she’s too short, needs to go asap but to a good home. Price nego.

The mare is actually pretty cute!

But the rider could use some work.

First off, obviously, the hands in the crotch. That alone ain’t right. The fact that she’s using that move to anchor her hands to force the horse’s nose in to her chest. You’d probably need a freakin anchor to hold the nose in that much! Makes you wonder if it’s so severe as to impede the horse’s breathing…

Next, RELEASE OVER THE JUMP!

Granted, we’ve seen worse, much worse, but as I’m quite fond of saying, just because someone else does it worse doesn’t make what you’re doing right.

Although, and maybe this is just me, I’m finding that the rider’s flaws are making the mare more appealing. She has a fairly happy expression (especially over the jumps!) and seems to be moving nice and forward. Of course there’s only so much you can tell from a picture but this cute might be worth a look! Anyone in Baltimore looking for a nice little mare?

Ok, these people don’t have time for their horse. They’re selling it at a non-slaughter price, who am I to judge? (There’s a bit of irony in that question though, eh? lol) But then looking at the mare, as the submitted pointed out, what is going on with that bridle? Is that white rope tied from the horses nose to the saddle? Holding the nose in? That’s sure what it looks like to me.

I’ve said a thousand times that I am an English rider, so, my Western peeps, is that a legit training aid and what is it’s purpose? Other than the obvious “to achieve the desired headset with minimal effort and training” *rolls eyes*

Blahblahblah helmets good; being kicked in head bad. I think we’re all on the same page there, ya?

What I want to talk about is the following quote from the article:

I agree! Luke didn’t mean to hurt her, he meant to kill her!

Ok, that’s a bit rash, no one interviewed the horse so how are we to know what he was thinking? But did anyone happen to see the part where he looked back, lined her up, and kicked out? I’d say that’s pretty deliberate. I’ve been riding for 19 years and I have NEVER had a horse kick out at me after falling. I’ve had them leap and injure themselves to avoid stepping on me.  I’ve had falls where both the horse and I fell and he got up quickly and took off galloping. I could go on naming the various falls I’ve taken (it takes 100 to make a good rider, right?! lol) but in all my years riding I’ve never seen or heard of anyone being kicked accidentally by their horse in any scenario (and yes, that includes spooks).

Furthermore, the girl goes on to state she’s only been riding for four years. Which is especially alarming given her other posted video:

I understand that she’s compiled the worst of the worst (why would you do that?) and maybe that’s making me judge her more harshly than I would otherwise, but damn she needs to work on her seat over fences! Heals down dammit!

REARING IS NOT FUNNY! There is nothing good or ok about a horse rearing. Somewhere in her comments it says she trained them to rear and, again, I may be being a bit harsh here but unless she’s a freakin’ horse savant, with only four years under her belt she has no business training a horse to do much of anything, let alone rear! Especially when you take her “fail video” into consideration… The first rear, at 1:45 in the video sure doesn’t look like a “trained” (or controlled) rear to me.

I think my favorite part is that she’s very pretty when she’s not dirty and that qualifies her to drop le babies. NOT SO MUCH!

And I’m sorry, but you want to get a smaller pony for your sons? Are you not aware that they will grow? Some at astounding rates? -not unlike weeds, friends have told me.

At least she’s reasonably priced. Depending on the severity of the founder she may have a decent career as a child’s pony ahead of her still. Of course, I beg the future owner to NEVER BREED THIS PONY! Argh.
