When conceited, self-important trainers are suspended by the AQHA and then arrested in Florida to be extradited to Texas, it’s news. Head on over to the Fugly Blog for the full post by Charm.
BTW – I don’t know her personally so am not 100% on my claims that she’s a conceited with delusions of grandeur, but if you read the interview (linked to in the post), she certainly came across as such (or am I the only one who got that vibe?).

I really don’t get that slooooow crabby stepping trot and canter I’m seeing in the western world. They are moving so slow and restricted in movement. I like to see a horse freely striding out. I don’t mean fast, but just walking/ trotting/ cantering where it is clear that they are built conformationally sound so that their legs can freely extend with a nice relaxed movement. Hard to describe, but that awkward canter would have me bolting to the pasture to gather up my lame horse!
I had never seen this before. Why do people want their horse to walk like it is lame? If I saw my horse doing this I would be calling the vet. Bizarre is all I can say.
Sure makes my eyes hurt trying to watch that. I ended cringing with each step because those horses look SO freaking uncomfortable!
I’ve never understood the slow crap either. We had a woman keeping her horse temporarily at the barn and she showed like this. My mare was doing a SLUGGISH walk and we were passing her horse at a canter. When I did decide to canter my mare, she told me I was out of control and should not be going that fast. I don’t think I could have made my mare canter any slower without loosing the gait. She was calm and collected and in no way out of control.
Sorry my not training my horse into moving in a way that sucks the very soul out of it makes you feel uncomfortable, lady!
